All parents and parishioners who will be volunteering in any capacity with children of our school and/or parish must complete the Catholic Mutual safe environment training.
In response to the Dallas Charter implemented by the USCCB in 2002, the Diocese of Lexington strives to provide a safe environment for all children and vulnerable adults within our parishes, schools and diocesan apostolates. On-going education is provided to clergy, employees, parents and children to raise awareness of warning signs that may indicate inappropriate behavior and abuse.
In addition to prevention education, the Diocese of Lexington stands ready to assist any victim of child sexual abuse by a cleric or lay employee by providing the necessary assistance for healing of mind, spirit and body.
Within parishes and schools, volunteers are recognized as a vibrant and necessary support to the ministries offered by each community. Volunteer participation brings added gifts and talents helping to the community to achieve its fullest potential.
As a representative of the Church, every volunteer who is in a position of trust with minors or vulnerable adults must fill out a
Volunteer Application and present to their location. Upon approval of the application, the volunteer will be directed to register with Catholic Mutual Group’s online
CMGconnect program.
The
CMGconnect program will provide the
“Safe Haven-It’s Up to You” Safe Environment training video
, Pastoral and Technology Codes of Conduct concluding with a background check. Once the process is completed the sponsoring location will be notified of the applicant’s eligibility to volunteer.
Thank you for your commitment to ensure that all parishes and schools within the Diocese of Lexington are places of safety for all children and vulnerable adults.
